Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually want to know before their first Conscious Connected Breathwork session.

What is Conscious Connected Breathwork?

An active breathing practice where the inhale and exhale connect without pausing. Guided by music and a trained facilitator, it invites you out of constant thinking and into a deeper connection with your body. Every session is different, because every person is different, many people feel calmer, lighter, or more connected afterward, but there's no "right" experience to have.

Why does Tash facilitate breathwork with ceremonial cacao?

Not because cacao creates an altered state or heals on its own, it's offered because it invites you to slow down, become present, and approach yourself with more openness and compassion. Used ceremonially for centuries as a drink of connection and intention, it gently supports the shift from the busyness of daily life into a more grounded space before breathing begins.

Why do you use headphones?

The music is a carefully chosen part of every journey. Wireless headphones let you feel fully supported by the music and Tash's voice without outside distraction, while she guides you gently and keeps the environment calm and intimate for everyone in the room.

Why do we breathe through the mouth?

It allows for a continuous, connected rhythm that's harder to sustain through the nose. This pattern temporarily shifts the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body, which influences the nervous system and often helps people move past constant thinking into deeper body awareness. It's used only during the guided session, nasal breathing stays the preferred way to breathe in everyday life, rest and sleep.

Why do my hands sometimes tingle or cramp?

Some people notice tingling in the hands, feet or face, or a temporary tightening of the hands (tetany). This happens because the breathing pattern temporarily changes carbon dioxide levels in the body. It's usually temporary and settles naturally once normal breathing resumes, Tash explains this before every session and supports you through it if it happens.

Do I need any previous experience?

Not at all. Whether this is your first time with meditation, mindfulness or breathwork, you're welcome. You'll be guided through the entire journey, and always encouraged to listen to your own body.

What happens during a session?

Each session begins with grounding and intention setting, followed by guided Conscious Connected Breathwork with carefully selected music, and finishes with gentle integration and reflection before you return to your day.

What might I experience?

Every experience is unique, relaxation, clarity, emotion, joy, creativity or a deep sense of connection are all common. You may also notice temporary physical sensations like tingling, changes in temperature, or muscle tension.

Is breathwork safe?

When facilitated by a trained practitioner and following appropriate screening, it's considered safe for most healthy adults. Every participant completes a health questionnaire before taking part, see the full contraindications page for details.

Will I have an emotional experience?

You might, or you might not, there's no expectation to have a particular experience. Tash's role is simply to hold a safe, compassionate space for whatever naturally arises.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing, a yoga mat, a blanket, pillow or cushion, water, and a journal if you'd like one.

What should I do after a session?

Drink plenty of water, rest if you need to, spend time in nature if you can, journal, and give yourself space to integrate over the following day or two.

How often should I practise?

Some people come monthly; others more often during a season of change. You'll find the rhythm that feels supportive for you together.

Is breathwork a replacement for therapy or medical care?

No. It's a complementary wellbeing practice, and should never replace medical advice, mental health treatment, or prescribed care.

"You don't need to arrive calm, healed, or having it all figured out. You simply need to arrive as you are. Your breath will meet you there."
